The 25th season of Red Rose came to a close with an anniversary concert on June 5th, 2022. The concert featured performances by the Red Rose and Lake County Boy’s choirs as well as some special guests. The concert also included some bittersweet “goodbyes” and even a premier!
The Bella Rosa choir premiered a new work called Morningsong from composer Jacob Narverud. This work was commissioned by Red Rose to commemorate the choir’s 25th anniversary. It features text written by founding director Sharon Augsburger. Supporting new music is just one of the traditions on display during the concert.
This year-end event marks the final concert for the Senior members of the Bella Rosa choir. Senior members were featured in a slideshow of pictures and memories. As is tradition, the Seniors were each recognized individually by the directors. Each performer received a rose and a moment of gratitude for their contributions to the choir.
This concert was also an opportunity to recognize long-time Red Rose accompanist Mrs. Christine Lim, who will be retiring following the season. The Alumni Choir performed one of Mrs. Lim’s favorite pieces, Dirait-On by Morten Lauridsen, to honor her contributions. Mrs. Lim has performed with the choirs for 18 years and her impact on the organization during that time has been immeasurable. She will definitely be missed, but we wish her the best as she enjoys her retirement!
We are extremely proud of the musical community that Red Rose has become over its first 25 years. We are excited to continue this tradition as we start our next season! Check out more scenes from the event below and be sure to visit often for updates on the 2022-2023 performance calendar
